Welcome to Spectra! These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of Spectra's AI-powered content optimization, marketing intelligence, and analytics platform. By accessing or using our service, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
Spectra provides advanced AI analysis, Google Ads performance tracking, keyword research, AI-generated content creation, Google Analytics integration for AI referral tracking, and comprehensive visibility monitoring to help businesses optimize their content strategy and monitor their presence across search engines and AI platforms.

Google Services Integration
By connecting your Google account to Spectra, you authorize us to access specific Google services through OAuth 2.0. Here's what you're agreeing to:
Google OAuth Scopes You Grant:

adwords- Read Google Ads data (campaigns, keywords, performance)

Your Authorization & Rights
- You grant Spectra permission to access the above Google services for the purposes described in our Privacy Policy
- You can revoke access at any time through your Spectra dashboard or Google account settings
- Revoking access will disable features that depend on that integration
- We only access data necessary to provide our services—no more, no less
- All access is read-only except for creating new files in Google Drive/Docs
Read-Only Guarantee: For Google Ads and Analytics, we only read your data. We never modify campaigns, change budgets, pause ads, or alter your Analytics configuration. Drive access is limited to files Spectra creates—we cannot see your existing files.
Google Ads Integration Terms
What We Access
When you connect your Google Ads account, you authorize Spectra to access and analyze:
- Campaign performance data (clicks, impressions, CTR, cost, conversions)
- Ad-level performance metrics for all campaigns
- Keyword performance and search term reports
- Device performance breakdown (mobile, desktop, tablet)
- Keyword Planner data for keyword research (search volume, competition, CPC estimates)
- Negative keywords and quality scores
What We Provide
- Year-to-date performance dashboards and reports
- Best and worst performing ad identification
- Wasted spend analysis with optimization recommendations
- Keyword opportunity discovery based on your industry
- Comparison metrics across time periods
- Device-level performance insights
📊 Read-Only Access:
Spectra has read-only access to your Google Ads account. We cannot and will not: create or modify campaigns, change bids or budgets, pause or activate ads, add or remove keywords, or make any changes to your account settings. All recommendations are advisory only—you maintain full control.
Google Analytics Integration Terms
Analytics Data Usage
By connecting Google Analytics, you authorize Spectra to:
- Query your Analytics properties to identify AI platform referrals
- Access session data, page views, and traffic sources specifically from AI platforms (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, etc.)
- Retrieve page-level performance metrics for AI-driven traffic
- Analyze referral patterns and engagement metrics over time
- View account structure (properties and views) to enable proper data access
What We Provide
- AI Referrals dashboard showing traffic from each AI platform
- Top pages receiving AI-driven visits
- Timeline analysis of AI referral patterns
- Session and engagement metrics for AI traffic
- Platform-specific breakdowns (ChatGPT vs. Claude vs. others)
Data Privacy
- We only query data in real-time—no raw Analytics data is stored
- We do not access personal information about your website visitors
- We only track aggregated, anonymized AI referral metrics
- Individual user behavior is never accessed or stored
🔒 No Configuration Changes:
Spectra has read-only access to your Google Analytics. We cannot modify your Analytics configuration, create or delete properties, change user permissions, or alter any settings. We only read AI-related referral data.
Google Drive & Docs Integration Terms
File Creation Authorization
By connecting Google Drive, you authorize Spectra to:
- Create new Google Docs in your Drive containing AI-generated content
- Export blog posts, articles, and marketing content to Google Docs format
- Preserve HTML formatting (headings, bold, italics, lists) during export
- Save generated content reports and analysis documents
Limited Scope Protection
🔐 Critical: drive.file Scope
We use the most restrictive Drive permission available. This means:
- We CAN only: Access files that Spectra creates
- We CANNOT: See, read, modify, or delete your existing Drive files
- We CANNOT: Access folders or files created by other apps
- We CANNOT: Share your files or change permissions
Your Control
- All files created by Spectra appear in your Google Drive and are fully owned by you
- You can edit, move, share, or delete these files at any time
- Disconnecting Spectra from Drive does not delete files already created
- You maintain full control over all content exported to Drive
User Responsibilities
Account Security
- Maintain the confidentiality of your account credentials
- Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access or security breach
- Use strong passwords and enable two-factor authentication when available
- Regularly review and manage connected Google services
- Do not share your account with unauthorized parties
Acceptable Use
You agree to use Spectra only for lawful purposes and in accordance with these Terms. You may not:
- Use the service for any illegal or unauthorized purpose
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or other users' accounts
- Interfere with or disrupt the service, servers, or networks
- Use automated scripts or bots to access the service excessively
- Reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code from our platform
- Violate Google's API Terms of Service or usage policies
- Use AI-generated content without reviewing it for accuracy
Data Accuracy & Google Account Access
- Ensure you have proper authorization to connect Google Ads and Analytics accounts
- Verify that company information and integration settings are accurate
- You are responsible for ensuring you have permission to access connected Google accounts
- Notify us if you lose access to connected Google accounts
Subscription & Billing
Subscription Plans
Spectra offers various subscription tiers with different features and usage limits. Your subscription will automatically renew unless you cancel before the end of the current billing period.
Payment Terms
- Subscription fees are billed in advance on a recurring basis (monthly or annually)
- All fees are non-refundable except as required by law or stated in our refund policy
- We may change our pricing with 30 days advance notice to existing subscribers
- Failed payments may result in service suspension or termination
- You are responsible for all applicable taxes
Free Trial
We may offer a free trial period for new users. During the trial, you have access to full or limited features depending on the plan. Your trial will automatically convert to a paid subscription unless you cancel before the trial ends.
Cancellation: You may cancel your subscription at any time through your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period. You will retain access until the period ends.
Intellectual Property
Our Rights
Spectra and its content, features, and functionality are owned by Spectra Inc. and are protected by international copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, and other intellectual property laws.
Your Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit to Spectra, including company information, website URLs, and uploaded files. However, you grant us a limited license to use, store, and process your content solely for providing our services, including:
- Analyzing your content for SEO and performance insights
- Generating reports and recommendations based on your data
- Providing AI visibility tracking and competitive analysis
- Improving our algorithms, AI models, and service quality (using aggregated, anonymized data)
AI-Generated Content
Content generated by our AI tools (blog posts, articles, reports) is provided to you under a non-exclusive license. You may use this content for your business purposes. However:
- You are responsible for reviewing and verifying AI-generated content before publication
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, originality, or quality of AI outputs
- You should ensure AI-generated content complies with applicable laws and regulations
- AI-generated content may not be entirely unique and could be similar to content generated for other users
Privacy & Data Protection
Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.
Data Processing
By using Spectra, you acknowledge and agree that we may process your data as described in our Privacy Policy, including:
- Querying your Google Ads and Analytics data for insights and reporting
- Processing content and website information for optimization recommendations
- Tracking AI visibility metrics across various platforms
- Generating performance reports and competitive analysis
- Storing encrypted OAuth tokens for Google service access
- Creating and exporting content to your Google Drive
Data Security: We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction. All data transmission uses TLS encryption, and OAuth tokens are encrypted at rest.
Limitations & Disclaimers
Service Availability
While we strive to provide reliable service, we do not guarantee that Spectra will be available 24/7 without interruption. We may experience downtime for maintenance, updates, or due to factors beyond our control (including Google API availability).
AI-Generated Content
Important Disclaimers:
- AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies, factual errors, or biases
- You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all generated content
- We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI outputs
- Generated content should be considered as suggestions, not professional advice
- AI-generated content may not be entirely original
Third-Party Services
Our service integrates with third-party platforms including Google Ads, Google Analytics, Google Drive, AI models (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google), and other services. We are not responsible for:
- The availability, accuracy, or reliability of third-party services
- Changes to third-party APIs or pricing
- Google's terms of service or API usage policies
- Data accuracy from Google Ads or Analytics
- AI model outputs from OpenAI, Anthropic, or other providers
Limitation of Liability
TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, SPECTRA SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Loss of profits, revenue, or business opportunities
- Loss of data or inability to access data
- Costs of procuring substitute services
- Damages resulting from use or inability to use the service
- Damages resulting from reliance on AI-generated content
- Damages from unauthorized access to your accounts
Termination
By You
You may terminate your account at any time by contacting us at karen@tryspectra.com or using the account deletion feature in your dashboard. Upon termination, your access to the service will cease at the end of your current billing period.
By Us
We may terminate or suspend your account immediately, without prior notice, for conduct that we believe violates these Terms, Google's terms, is harmful to other users, us, or third parties, or for any other reason at our sole discretion.
Effect of Termination
- Your right to use the service will cease immediately
- All OAuth tokens will be immediately revoked
- We will delete your account data within 30 days of termination (except as required by law)
- You may request an export of your data before termination
- Files created in your Google Drive remain in your Drive and are not deleted
- All provisions that should survive termination will remain in effect
Changes to Terms
We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. If we make material changes, we will provide at least 30 days advance notice by:
- Email notification to your registered email address
- Prominent notice in your Spectra dashboard
- Updated "Last updated" date at the top of these Terms
Your continued use of Spectra after the effective date of any changes constitutes your acceptance of the new Terms. If you do not agree to the changes, you must stop using the service and may terminate your account.
Governing Law & Disputes
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of California, United States, without regard to its conflict of law principles.
Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of Spectra will be resolved through binding arbitration in San Francisco, California, in accordance with the rules of the American Arbitration Association. You waive any right to a jury trial or to participate in a class action lawsuit.
